The Southwest Florida Roofing Contractors Association (SWFRCA) hosted its 20th Annual Danny Carson Golf Tournament at the Forest Country Club in Fort Myers on Friday, May 10th, when participants enjoyed a collegial day of golf followed by a celebratory dinner.
Event Chairperson Ali Spingler of Polyglass U.S.A., Inc. commented, “It’s wonderful to see such support from the industry, contractors, and suppliers.” Springler added, “And it’s a fantastic opportunity to catch up with everyone, knowing that you’re giving back to the community while having fun.”
At the dinner, SWFRCA hosted family members of the Danny Carson Golf Tournament’s namesake, including Carson’s wife Marie, his sister-in-law Julie and brother-in-law Doug. Carson, who was owner and president of Lee County Roofing and Sheet Metal, was publicly remembered for his community impact and heroic service as a U.S. Navy Seal awarded with two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star metal. Other highlights included a rousing recap of the golf tournament’s 20-year history and its essential role in funding a scholarship for the Florida Roofing and Sheet Metal Contractors Association (FRSA).
Tournament proceeds also benefitted Blessings In A Backpack, a local charity that ensures J. Colin English Elementary School students have nourishing meals over the weekend when school food programs are inaccessible.
SWFRCA President John Caron remarked, “After a busy winter, working long hours and focused on completing our many projects, it’s a real treat to connect with industry peers.” Caron continued, “Support for the charities was remarkable, and the volunteers do a phenomenal job. I look forward to the SWFRCA Danny Carson Golf Tournament every year.”
